What I learned from Multimedia Journalism for the Winter 2024 Semester!

I would like to say that this class has been very interesting. I have learned so much about journalism, thanks to Professor Nancy Hanus.  I didn’t know there was so many parts to multimedia journalism.  I learned how to blog which was interesting because I’m not a blogger or a reader of blogs.  I am active on social media and all of its various platforms.  As a class, we had excellent discussions on various social topics and news reporting.

This semester, our primary focus was Data Journalism. We had to select a school district within the area and collect various data points, look at trends and graphs.  We collected data from  https://www.mischooldata.org/ and various other sources.  My school district was Wayne-Westland Community School District.  My timeline displays my process of collecting information about my district, but also includes things I learned from that project.  I also learned how to conduct an interview.  Overall, this was a fun class, and I learned a lot.
