West Bloomfield Third-Graders Show Mixed Results on MSTEP Math Tests, with Roosevelt School Leading the District

The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, is a statewide standardized test given to public school students in Michigan, including various grades and subjects.

Third-grade students in the West Bloomfield School District have shown fluctuating math scores on the MSTEP assessments over the past several years. The most recent results for the 2022-2023 school year indicate varied performances across different schools in the district. For instance, while Roosevelt School showed that 65.3% of its third graders met or exceeded expectations in math, surpassing the statewide average of 42.9%, not all schools in the district performed at this level. This is a notable change from the 2014-2015 school year when all schools in the district had averages above the state average of 48.8%.

Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, Sheiko School had 38.6% of its third-grade students pass the math MSTEP, which is below the statewide pass rate. Overall, for the West Bloomfield School District, 51.8% of third-graders passed the math MSTEP in the last school year, which is significantly higher than the state average.
