“Scamanda”: Lionsgate’s Riveting Podcast Unraveling a Deceptive Cancer Claim

Last year, I was scrolling through Instagram when someone I followed mentioned a podcast called “Scamanda”. The video they made made me want to check out the podcast for myself, and from the first to the last episode, I was hooked.

Scamanda is a true crime podcast about a woman named Amanda who convinced everyone she knew she had cancer and other illnesses. Amanda was a mother, wife, and teacher. Her disposition was upbeat, encouraging, and cheerful. Her entire community supported her and her family during their “cancer” battle.

Amanda would blog about her hospital visits and her daily life; she would share images of her family, selfies, gift cards sent to her, and so on. Amanda kept up this scheme for years until her deception caught up with her.

“Scamanda” is hosted by journalist Charlie Webster, who investigates and exposes the lies she has been telling for years.
