My Beautiful Journey to West Virginia: “Take Me Home”

During Spring Break, 2024, I had the amazing opportunity to journey to the mountains of West Virginia for a mission trip with InterVarsity. I saw some of the most spectacular scenery. Here’s a short photo gallery that shows some of my favorite sites.

The journey began as all journeys taken during the beginning of spring…with a beautiful snowstorm in the middle of a seven-hour drive.

I love nature, so during our “Retreat of Silence,” I took a walk up the mountain and came across this amazing landscape view. This area is known as “The Ridge” in Philipi, West Virginia.

During “The Plunge” (What this mission trip is loving referred to), participants are invited to Bonnie’s mountain home with this gorgeous view. Bonfires, S’mores and Stargazing!

One of many highlights of this trip was the chance to take an excursion to one of many local attractions. Several of chose a winding, treacherous drive through the mountains to find the pristine Blackwater Falls!

These are only a few of the precious moments and memories that I captured during my life-changing journey to Phillippi, West Virginia. I made new friends, got closer to old friends, reacquainted with missed friends, found love and joy in nature and strengthened my connection with my Lord and Savior. I’ll forever be singing, “Country road, take me home, to a place, I belong, West Virginia, Mountain mama! I left my part of my heart in West Virginia, but I brought a part of her home with me!
