Mental health is a sensitive subject for some people. For me personally, I’ve found success in battling this internal struggle through listening to podcasts and practicing what they preach. It was for this reason that I began to wonder why years of therapy, exercise, and many other methods had failed in being successful but this one worked.
I believe that I find comfort in listening to someone give me advice that can’t actually see me. I compare this to people that bully others online because they find safety through anonymity behind the screen but in this case I’m finding safety behind the screen in a good way. I think that if I were talking with someone face to face, they would be judging me so this way, I feel safe in my environment and am able to embrace how I truly feel in the moment.
I think this concept can be applied to podcasts in general. This medium of media is a way to access people socially but contrary to the way that most things online work nowadays, the receivers are the ones that are anonymous and I think that’s what I find so interesting about the concept of a podcast. This can be taken advantage of in numerous ways outside of a mental health aspect and I think those ways just need to be discovered.
