One of the podcasts that I listen to regularly is Locked On Lions. This specific podcast is part of the large podcasting network of “Locked On” where it covers numerous teams from numerous sports.
I originally found this podcast because it was actually reposted by the Detroit Lions social media page, in which I drew an interest because I am a big Lions fan, so I checked it out and actually really enjoyed it.
The podcast comes out every couple of days during the offseason (this time currently) and then during the NFL season it comes out every single day, including Sundays which are my favorite because it’s a recap of the game. The recaps of the games are so important to me because I’m usually busy all the time on Sundays so I miss a lot of the Lions games and try to recap them the best I can. So to have a podcast tell me all about the game, key elements of the games, and mistakes that happened is really awesome for an avid sports fan like myself. There is a ton of narration with a little bit of music going into the introduction of the audio.
When it comes to interviews, there aren’t too many but they do have “crossover Thursdays” where the host of the Lions podcast, Matt Derry, will invite the opposing team of that week (let’s say for example it is Miami Dolphins this week) and then they both are on the podcast at once, kind of like an interview, where they go over the key components of the upcoming game. My favorite portion of this is when both podcasters, Matt and whomever else that week, discuss what their biggest strengths are in that upcoming game and it truly helps you visualize how the game might play out, especially when it’s a really good game (the Lions vs Dolphins would be a very good game).
Another day of the week I enjoy is mailbag Wednesday, where Matt will open some email questions he has received and answer them live on the podcast, it’s really cool to see that there are other people out there listening to the same exact podcast that I am, and they have the same exact thoughts and questions that I might have. I think this podcast is very good and I definitely listen to all the new episodes that come out, whether it be everyday or every couple of days.
The entire Locked On podcast network is very informative and well structured!
