This semester in Multimedia Journalism has been one of the most interesting and fun classes in my college journey so far. As someone who has always had a love for journalism but in college studying psychology this has been a wonderful experience. Through a mix of hands-on projects, class discussions, and digital storytelling tools, I gained a better understanding of what it means to be a modern journalist. I especially appreciated the opportunity to experiment with different media formats.
I enjoyed all of the research and investigating we did for Wayne-Westland Community Schools. It shows that putting in the work and getting the facts and numbers will pay off when writing our articles and stories. I loved learning and writing about podcasts. And exploring that as a new form of a journalistic medium. The discussion boards were a great way to get a vast amount of feedback and see the different points of view of different students in our class. And finally, I loved creating the data visualizations. It was such a neat way to show information about a subject in a way that would connect with readers and be easy to understand.
This class helped me see journalism not just as reporting facts, but as crafting experiences that resonate. I’m proud of what I accomplished and grateful for everything I learned along the way.
