Farmington high school has many different social media platforms that parents and students can follow to stay connected with what’s happening in the not just within their school but also around the district. I intended on highlighting a few of these platforms and sharing my opinion of if they are good and should be used by the students and parents.
The first social media platform we will be diving into is the Farmington High School Facebook page. One thing I can say about their page is that they do a really good job of posting great achievements and success of their students and faculty. Although they do a great job on creating good posts, they seem to struggle with the consistent posting. They just made their first post of the year on 1/29/25 welcoming the class of 2029 for the upcoming freshman orientation that happened on 2/5/25. Another great feature that the page has is there is a direct link to the school’s website for people who may be new to the district or parents looking for a way to enroll their child within the school.
The second form of social media platform we will be taking a look at is the Farmington High School YouTube channel. This channel covers many things but the main thing that they do is the live stream events such as sporting events, concerts, and board meetings. They have been covering these events for the past 40 years. The name of the “news” channel is called TV-10. They only have a few videos up on their page and most of them are a part of a series called “OSOB” which is short for One School One Book.
The third form of social media that they use and, in my opinion, the most valuable one they have is the Farmington School District Facebook page. They do everything well from the constant posts about what great things their students do and making sure parents and students can stay up to date on important things happening around the district. This page also has the biggest following of the social media pages that I have found. If I were a student or a parent of a child who attended a school within this district this would be my one stop shop for all the information I ever needed to have.
The fourth and final media outlet we will look into is one that may be overlooked but definitely has its perks, this being the Farmington High School Athletics Page. I say the athletic page may be overlooked because there is not a lot of information within the account pertaining to school, but the hidden perk of this account is the things it highlights. The account highlights all of the extraordinary things that the students accomplish outside of school within every individual sport. This one should not be overlooked, it does a decent job with the posting and its never to bad to keep up to date with your schools’ athletics to support your friends.
