This semester in Journalism class has been eye opening filled with a mix of creativity, analysis, research, and lively discussions, which by far were my favorite. In our weekly discussion posts, we dove into controversial topics.I loved reading how different classmates approached the same subject. And on the other hand we had some very heartwarming stories shared that I still think of.It was so also very inspiring to have professional journalists and a communications director as guest speakers.
I developed a new found respect for the work of journalists by discovering how to collect and analyze data through MI School Data.At first I found it quite overwhelming to utilize new sites to create charts and dig through data. But once I became comfortable assembling the information I was actually able to craft a story from the information I gathered I found that to be very rewarding.
My timeline project brings it all together.I included a guest speaker I really enjoyed, some of the statistics I’m most proud of having researched, all about the Farmington district, and some of the stories that resonated with me the most.
