Farmington Schools: Third Grade Math M-STEP Test Scores Taking Steady Decline

Farmington Schools- specifically their third grade math test takers- have a common theme: they’re all declining.

Since 2014, we have been able to track a noticeable decline in test taker’s results. All throughout the district, the theme appears to be remaining steady. However, the common theme in the Farmington district is heading downward.

As it is a state- wide test, their scores are being compared to the statewide average. The Farmington district’s scores are averaging downwards in terms of the Math M-STEP testing over the years.

As seen in the chart below, some districts have seen a decline of over 10% in the last ten years in terms of state-wide testing. For example, Woodland Elementary had an average of about 70% in math testing scores in the 2015- 2016 school year. But within the 2023-2024 school year, they are coming in at 54.7% testing scores overall.
