How Wayne-Westland uses social media to reach younger audiences

In recent years, social media has become an easy and interactive way for Wayne-Westland Community School District to stay connected with students and their families. Operating on platforms such as Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, the district and their students’ families have never been so connected.

The district’s busiest channels are on Facebook and Instagram, where regular posts provide updates for parents and families on what’s new and interesting in their district’s curriculum, upcoming district events, and news updated for school closures and weather advisories.

WWCSD’s YouTube channel gives a more formal approach. Updating content only a few times each month, the channel primarily publishes school board meetings, with occasional school event highlights and promotional videos.

Though not updated since January of this year, the district’s page on TikTok gives a more fun-forward approach to immersing their followers into the Wayne-Westland experience; they share fun student moments and highlights from events in order to further engage with younger audiences.
