Media Accounts

Using social media to maintain connections between children, parents, and the community is something that Farmington Public Schools (FPS) does fairly well. The district communicates celebrations, updates, and significant announcements on social media sites like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (previously known as Twitter). Overall, the effort is there and apparent however some pages are more active than others.

District-wide news, student activity, highlights, and school events are frequently posted on FPS’s official Facebook page. It’s simple to use and a great place to see what’s happening in the neighborhood. Posts frequently contain pictures from board meetings, classroom activities, and parent and student reminders.

FPS does a fantastic job with the images on Instagram. They provide colorful, uplifting material such as pictures from spirit week, Black History Month festivities, and the best moments from academic and athletic activities. Students and younger audiences that like to witness more behind-the-scenes or daily life in the schools will find it to be an excellent platform.

Even more official, the FPS X account is useful. It provides brief updates on board meetings, important district events and school closings. It’s dependable and useful for time-sensitive information, but it’s not as flashy as Instagram.

A variety of district announcements, school event videos, and board meeting recordings can be seen on their YouTube page. While some videos focus on student activities, others are longer and intended for staff or parents. It’s a helpful tool for keeping up with events or for catching up on missed ones.
