Wayne-Westland high schools have a consistent Facebook presence where they like to showcase events and especially student engagement. You will find that most posts are made to celebrate students in one way or another which gives a positive representation of the programs available at the high schools and it also shows how much students enjoy those programs. For example, John Glenn High School’s Facebook page is dedicated to showing their student athletes engage with the community and school programs. Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy, in particular, does a well job with giving updates on school changes like snow days and other operational events.
Although there is strong engagement on Facebook, only half of the high schools in Wayne-Westland have a X (formerly known as Twitter) or Instagram account for social media presence. On the Facebook pages for high schools, there is no consistency in the forms of contact available. Some school simply have a link to their website while others have phone numbers or emails.
There is opportunity for social media engagement with Wayne-Westland high schools. However, the engagement shown on their Facebook is enough to inspire parents to tune in.
