Wayne Memorial High School

Wayne Memorial High School, located in Wayne, Michigan, is home of the mighty Zebras! It was founded in 1870 and is part of the Wayne-Westland Community Schools district. It has students from Wayne, Westland, Inkster, and Romulus. The school has approximately 1,425 students for the 2024-2025 school year.

The school colors are surprisingly not black and white. Back in the 40’s the University of Michigan donated only uniforms to the school. It was then they adopted their color of Maize and Blue.  In 2025 both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams made it to the Division 1 state finals held at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The boys’ went up against East Lansing in the championship game but lost 66-46. Also, the girls’ team made it to the final four matchup, but lost 42-61 to Rockford in the Semifinals game.
