Jackson Public Schools is evidently not very active on social media, through analysis of their Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube pages it is clear only Facebook is properly utilized.
Through analysis of their pages, I discovered that March 8th, 2024, was an eventful and scary day for the school system. March 8th was celebrated by the pages and gave honor to the community’s women in celebration of international women’s day, but it also marked the day that a gun violence threat took place at the high school.
This Facebook post shows the emotion that ran through the district staff on March 8th. The school affirms students, families, and community members that they are working diligently to find the culprits and that they wholeheartedly “respect the feelings that the event evoked”.
This post signed by the superintendent states that the high school was closed for the day and the middle and elementary schools went on lockdown. Further, it pleas for families to stop sharing the email threat that was leaked because it had a student’s name that was cleared as a possible suspect. The superintendent states that the sharing of this misinformation would increase the hardship of that student and their family.
The same day, March 8th the school posted this message to the community’s women thanking and congratulating them for all they do for their families and the community.

It is interesting to me that despite the possibility of gun violence in the high school on March 8th the school still took the time to post for international women’s day on two platforms especially because they rarely post on anything but Facebook.
