Podcasts are Marketing

Have you ever been listening to a podcast when the host suddenly stops to read a message from a sponsor? Or maybe you’ve been scrolling on social media and seen clips from a podcast? Through my experiences with listening to and producing podcasts, I have found that podcasts can be an effective medium for marketing various products and ideas.

Often, podcasts are created to entertain, but they can also serve as a source of income and promotion for the hosts. Usually, podcast hosts have something else in their lives that serves as their main source of income, such as a business or a career in comedy. The podcast extends their reach into the world and can be a way to advertise their brand or image. Additionally, multiple social media platforms can be utilized to promote the podcast by sharing interesting clips that can attract new listeners. In my experience with my own podcast, I create clips from my show and post them on TikTok in order to gain more listeners and followers.

However, podcasts aren’t just for self-promotion. With a large following, you could start attracting companies that are willing to pay you to advertise their products or services. I have listened to many podcasts that feature sponsorships from multiple companies. With a significant following and strategic advertising, a podcast could become a fun, potentially lucrative, and multimedia marketing-driven endeavor.
