West Bloomfield School District Enrollment Numbers Down 28% in Last Decade

Over the past decade, enrollment numbers across the state have continued to decline, and West Bloomfield’s District is no exception. However, within recent years, this decline has slowed with the most recent decrease being a mere 4% between the 21-22 and 22-23 school years.

Overall, between the 10-11 and 22-23 school years, the enrollment rate has declined a shocking 28%. There are many reasons for the decrease in enrollment over the past decade but the biggest one is the simple fact that the population isn’t the size that it used to be. People aren’t having as many kids as they were before, therefore they don’t have the kids to enroll into schools.

West Bloomfield’s Schools didn’t face much difference over the years except for their middle schools which have increased their enrollment in recent years. Their high school remained higher than their elementary and middle schools over the years but remained steady in enrollment, going from 1,883 to 1,652 facing a change of 12%. The decline over the years came from their elementary programs.

In the 22-23 school year, the district had a total of 4,884 students while in the 15-16 school year, they had a total of 5,511 students. Over this period, they faced a change of 11% and this is when they remained most steady and when the decline was slowing down.
