More than 20 years ago, I made my first foray into digital media when I left The Detroit News after 13 years to help form a startup website for and about people with disabilities. I haven’t looked back, and have instead looked for opportunities to use my skills as a journalist in the digital space.
My journey has taken me through two startup opportunities, a two-year university teaching position, a two-year experience with a nonprofit and the chance to lead digital teams at three publications.
I’ve dipped my toe into audience development, and liked it enough to dive into it deeper. Marketing, events — also new avenues for me. I may have been doing this for decades, but the thrill of a new challenge never gets old.
Now, I’ve done something I’ve never done before: I’ve started my own company. Please check out Steeped In Media LLC, my new venture … and my new adventure!
